I work from observation. My painting is about the tension between recognition and anonymity, between interior and exterior, between aloneness and intimacy. There is a struggle in my work between the effort to describe what is in front of me – to capture the specific weight, light and the color of the observed situation, and my will to distance myself from the familiar objects I am seeing, in order to create my own particular perception.
My creative process primarily derives from the material itself.
וam fascinated by the way raw material disrobes, slowly uncovering the delicate curves and patterns that are organically embedded in it.
The transformation is enchanting – starting with unprocessed substance, וgradually unveil its hidden character and aesthetics, almost as if it were a living organism. ln this respect, my attitude towards my work is almost maternal. One of my greatest joys is witnessing a new creation that carries my genes, sitting there, on the thin line between stillness and life.
