Yair Barak is an Israeli artist, graduated (Cum Laude) from the Camera Obscura School of art, Tel Aviv and studied for MFA at Bard College, New-York.
Barak works around photography and video installation. His oeuvre, raising up questions of historiography, memory and the boundaries of the medium were exhibited widely in Israel and Europe and are kept amongst important collections worldwide. In 2005 Barak has established the photography department in Minshar for arts in Tel-Aviv. Barak is now the head of the fine arts department at Seminar Hakibutzim college.
In 2015 The Tel Aviv Museum of art held a major solo exhibition titled Moving away
from something he stares at, accompanied by a book with the same title. In 2012 Barak has won the art encouragement award, given by the Israeli culture ministry.
